How to calculate TVA in Cameroon step by step (17.5%, 10%)
This guide explains how to add TVA manually and how to check the result using the calculator.
In some shops or web portals, you may see prices with the comment "TVA not included". This means that it is not the final price, and you will have to add TVA to the amount to get the total to pay.
Formula to calculate TVA on a price without TVA
To calculate the TVA in this case, the following formula should be used:
Practical example of TVA calculation at 17.5%
That is, if you have a product whose value is FCFA 1,200 without TVA and with a 17.5% TVA rate, the formula would look like this:
The product price must be multiplied by the TVA percentage, and that number divided by 100. In this case, it would give FCFA 210. So the TVA amount would be FCFA 210.
Another alternative would be to divide 17.5% by 100, resulting in 0.18, and multiply this by FCFA 1,200, resulting in FCFA 210 in the same way.
Finally, to add TVA to a price, add the base price of the product, for example, FCFA 1,200, plus the calculated TVA of FCFA 210, giving a final result of FCFA 1,410.
Example of reduced TVA calculation (10%)
In the case of a product with a price of FCFA 1,200 without TVA to which the reduced TVA of 10% is applied, the formula allows calculating the corresponding tax for certain goods and services that have a lower taxation than the standard rate.
